17 people confrimed dead in an accident at Buipe-Tamale, nanansem.com can report.
Seventeen (17) persons have been confirmed dead in an accident that has occurred on the Buipe-Tamale high way in the Central Gonja District on the Savannah Region.
This accident happened Today February 3, 2021 near Fulfulso around 12:12am
The accident consisted of 12 males and 4 females and a child.
This horrific accident was a clash between two buses with registration numbers GT 3345-16 and AC 1699-20.
It was reported they were traveling from Kumasi to Zebila and from Garu to Kumasi respectively when they unfortunately ran into each other.
The Savannah Regional Commander of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), Assistant Chief Fire Officer (ACFO), Mr. Kwasi Baffour-Awuah who confirmed the accident to Graphic Online said the Buipe Fire Station received a call at 12.46 am and arrived at the accident scene at 1.20 am.
He said, the injured, numbering about 90, were taken to the Buipe Polyclinic and Holistic Medicare Hospital and the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH).
The bodies of the deceased persons who are yet to be identified have been deposited at the TTH mortuary.
According to him, the drivers of the two buses were among the deceased persons.
He said with assistance from colleagues from the Damongo Fire Station, they were able to rescue some of the injured persons who were trapped in the buses.
